One is a standalone utility the other is a command line version that can be integrated with your own application. PDF Split-Merge can be used to split files by pages. Splitting a file into single pages or every n pages is equally easy. The same utility can be used to implement the reverse process of merging files as well. Merging multiple files into one or combining several document to create one is a simple process.
The application saves the original formatting, links as well as form fields. It is a stand alone software and does not need the Adobe Acrobat or the reader. Appending pages to an existing document to create a new one can be handled equally well by the utility. Splitting alternatives available are quite a few. These include splitting by page numbers, even or odd pages or even a custom page range. Another option is to to split into single pages or a page range. Split into n pages per file is yet another alternative. Split by bookmarks, extract individual chapters is also possible. Merging is available with several options similarly. Reversing and rearranging a document is available.
Overall: This is a fairly nice and simple utility to split-merge PDF documents.
